MICHAEL WELLER - Chairman of the Board

Over the last thirty years, Michael's work has been performed on and off Broadway and at major repertory theatres in the US, including the New York Shakespeare Festival, Mark Taper Forum, Goodman Theatre, Steppenwolf, Circle-in-the-Square, Seattle Repertory, La Jolla Playhouse, and Second Stage, where he was Literary Advisor.  His best known works: Spoils of War, Moonchildren, Loose Ends, Fishing, Split, The Ballad of Soapy Smith, The Heart of Art and most recently Fifty Words and Beast. The musical of Dr. Zhivago, for which he wrote the libretto, will open in Australia in January 2011. His film credits include Hair, Lost Angels and the screen adaptation of E.L. Doctorow's novel, Ragtime, for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Screen Adaptation. He is currently completing a screenplay for Carol Polakoff Productions (Safe Haven) and developing a screenplay with Sidney Lumet based on his trilogy of two character plays; Loving, Longing, Leaving. He is also developing a television series with Tom Fontana based on his play Moonchildren.
